As children grow, so do their interests and curiosity. Their world becomes a bigger place and cognitive development is at its peak. The children will be given the opportunity to learn about space, science, other countries and cultures. Within the content of this curriculum, the staff will also be teaching preliminary math and reading skills. Through the use of reading programs and the Second Step social program, the children will gain general knowledge and practice skills to be used in future schooling and socialization. Teacher implemented games and activities give the children an opportunity for hands on learning experiences. Opportunities for social play and group work on a regular basis will enhance each child’s leadership and team building skills.
Of equal importance to the preschool child, would be many opportunities for physical exercise. Regular outdoor time, as well as scheduled physical activity indoors, promotes a healthy life style and cardiovascular exercise for additional health benefits. Interesting and challenging activities with a variety of equipment and music will encourage the children to participate in this portion of the program.
The Intermediate Program activity participates in the Quality First Programme.
